On
the road with 20 Clues to Rural Community Survival
Rural and small
town leaders from throughout southern Colorado attended a one-day
workshop on Clues to Rural Community Survival sponsored by the Southeastern
Colorado Economic Development District. Organized by the district's
regional planner, John Galusha, the event drew approximately 75
participants.
The workshop
features an introduction to the Heartland Center's research on thriving
small towns and several hands-on sessions teaching participants
how to use the 20 Clues to Rural Community Survival as an
action-planning agenda for community betterment. The research is
based on more than 15 years of qualitative research focusing on
factors contributing to community development in 20 small towns
throughout more than a dozen states, mainly in the Midwest and the
Mountain West.
